Person-centered Therapy or
Rogerian Psychotherapy
A type of psychotherapy seeking to facilitate a client's self-actualizing tendency through unconditional positive regard, therapist congruence and emapthic understanding. It is based on the idea that the client knows what is best, and that the therapist's role is to facilitate an environment in which the client can bring about positive change. A strength emphasizing way of viewing clients as resilient and resourceful. With the client leading the way as the expert of themselves, we try to help the client navigate their options and use their strengths as a catapult to making the positive changes in their own life.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
This type of psychotherapy is based on the belief that all humans have an inherent adaptive drive toward physical and emotional health. To promote reprocessing, bilateral stimulation is used, which is a safe and present way to distract the brain while the memory network keeps what is healthy, and lets go of past, no longer useful emotions, sensations, and beliefs.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
This is a strength-based approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. Through a series of constructed questions and a focus on the present and future, this type of psychotherapy is goal-oriented and addresses client goals without having to explore the deep history.
Holistic Psychotherapy
This type of therapy addresses the person as a whole. By integrating the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional well-being of a client, development of a deeper understanding of themselves can be achieved. We use the Wellness Wheel and the Lōkahi Wheel to help clients understand that when there isn't balance between the different aspects of our lives then it can have an impact on other aspects of ourselves and as a whole.
“Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.”
